Let's talk about sugilite first, since it is featured in the first pendant. Most of the time sugilite is cut to remove the rind. The rind is simply parent stone, that surrounds the lump of valuable sugilite. In this case it is a vibrant rust and brown in color. I left it on, and it really brings out the bright coloration seen in this top quality sugilite. The Dry Creek turquoise pendant is one of my favorites, because of the rarity of the turquoise. Dry Creek turquoise is known for it's fine quality and coloration so pale it can actually approach white. This is very unusual. It is sometimes called "Sacred Buffalo" turquoise by the Indians in honor of it's rarity. This pendant has a high quality piece set off by the 18k yellow gold, which also calls attention to the golden matrix in the stone. Hematite is found in two of the pendants on this page. Botryoidal hematite!!! Now, I had never seen hematite in this form, and most everyone else I have talked to hasn't either. I bought every piece the dealer had. The surface is left natural. The undulating nodules really bring attention to the glassy shine of the hematite. Drusy azurite of good quality is quite hard to find. This piece is exemplary, as is the one found at the bottom of the page. A watermelon slice of tourmaline and a green tourmaline crystal are coordinated in this pendant, set in sterling silver and accented with 14ky gold. The tourmaline beads are the best quality and are describe on the beads page. They are sold separately. Owahee jasper has each blaze of vivid red set off on the pendant with accents of 14ky gold on the sterling silver. Matching earrings are found on the earring page. The Agua Nueva pendant has such lovely soft colors. The major part of the stone has been polished to a high sheen, while the natural drusy is left peeking out from the bottom corner. The stark contrast between these two surfaces on the same stone makes a remarkable piece. Have you ever seen such gorgeous green turquoise? This piece is undyed, and from all I can tell it has not needed to be stabilized either. I cut it from a piece considerably larger than my hand. Drusy
comes from a variety of parent stones. The natural drusy in this Blue Chalcedony
pendant has such a soft coloration. Some drusies, are quite common. Drusy
Blue Chalcedony is not at all common, especailly in the quality adequate for
jewelry. Faceted iolite has been added to pick up the lavendar blue color
of the drusy. Home
